L’ isola ha forma circolare visto che è sita sulla punta di un vulcano spentosi 2000 anni fa. E’ caratterizzata da tre crateri: Monte Rosso, Monte Nero e Monte Vulcano. Il  terreno è molto fertile tanto che si coltivano sia  la vite che il fico d’India.
 
Anche sull’ unica spiaggia di Linosa, riparata dal vento, le tartarughe marine depongono le uova. I fondali rocciosi sono meta di sub.
Tipiche sono le case di Linosa le cui facciate sono dipinte a colori vivaci e le cui porte spesso sono dipinte di rosso.
 
L’ isola è ricca di cisterne per la raccolta delle acque piovane.
